Elections are right around the corner and as an employer it is important to know what voting rights exist for your employees.  Amazingly there is no federal law regarding an employee’s right for time off to vote.  So, we need to look at the state laws to know what your employees’ rights are. 

Below is a summary of a handful of states’ laws regarding the amount of paid or unpaid time off, advance notice and other important things to know regarding time off to vote.  If your state is not addressed below, it is important to educate yourself on the laws specific to your business so that you are compliant when the time comes.
